Entrepreneurship Education

Working together to improve entrepreneurship education

I'd love to hear about some of the projects that other teachers have used successfully in entrepreneurship or business classes.

One of the projects that I do in my business classes involves having the students read a 'self-help' or 'how-to' business book. I allow them to choose an area of interest - management, marketing, sales, etc. - then give them a list of book ideas to help direct them toward short, easy-to-read books like Gung-Ho or Who Moved My Cheese. My reasoning for the project is that in the real-world when you run into a new challenge or opportunity, business people frequently use this type of avenue to broaden their knowledge and skills. Students read the books and summarize what they learned from the in a PowerPoint. They also have to talk about how the information can be applied in the business world and under what circumstances they'd recommend the book to an employee or colleague. I've considered having them do something along the lines of a web page with some interactive components but our district's technology isn't able to support that at this time.

Please share some of your business projects as well.
